As a 'not-for-profit' organisation, all proceeds of Torbay Constructions are directed back into the community, assisting the region's most vulnerable and needy aged residents. Torbay Constructions comprises expertise in Commercial, Industrial and High Rise construction with 'tried and proven' experience and practical construction solutions.

Torbay Constructions are very impressed with the new TRV Site Solutions 3.6 site office. Perfect for small to medium building sites, it ticks all the boxes with the upcoming changes to the Workplace Health and Safety Regulations. Its fully insulated with A/C and vented skylights. It is supplied direct to site commercially wired and plumbed with a plan desk, First Aid kit, Fire extinguisher, dual keyed-alike deadbolts to all doors and two toilets with ss basins as standard. Its robust portable design means its also water, vandal and very importantly...pest/rot proof. Torbay Constructions is presently engaged with the design and development of a two storey 24 bed High Care extension to Torbay Retirement Villages Parklands facility, and is also well under way with the design phase of Torbay Retirement Villages new 600m2 Head Office at Exeter Street Torquay. Both projects are due to commence construction mid 2012.

Torbay Constructions has also been working very closely with a client on a proposed Retirement Village,having just finalised and submitted their second round Government funding application. Construction is also scheduled to commence Mid 2012.

Torbay Retirement Villages Limited is a public company under the Corporations Act. It is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee. As such the company has Members rather than shareholders. Members are not entitled to dividends or to share in the assets of the company.

Torbay Retirement Villages Limited operates under a Constitution with the Board of Directors acting in accordance with Corporate Governance Principles as detailed in our Corporate Governance Plan. Directors are elected for a three-year term to ensure continuity and consistency of stewardship. The Board of Directors is responsible for establishing the strategic direction and policy framework for the organisation, and management is delegated the task of implementing and reporting.

The company is registered as a charity by the Queensland Collections Act 1966 (Registration Number CH0720). The company is recognised by the Australian Taxation Office as a Public Benevolent Institution and as such holds the following taxation exemptions:

  • Endorsement as an income tax exempt charitable entity
  • Endorsement as a deductible gift recipient

A public benevolent institution (PBI) is a non-profit institution organised for the direct relief of poverty, sickness, suffering, distress, misfortune, disability or helplessness. A PBI operates on a non-profit basis. That is, its assets or profits are not distributed to members, owners or particular persons, except as reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses incurred on behalf of the organisation or as proper remuneration for administrative services.

Philip Parry

CEO

After spending 12 years in public practice as a Chartered Accountant and 4 years operating small businesses, Philip joined the Board of Torbay. He retired from the Board in 1989 to take over as its CEO. Philip was Chair of the Residential Care Committee of Aged Care Queensland for 12 years and served 10 years as a Providers representative on the Department of Health and Ageing’s Transaction and Technology Reference Group in Canberra. He has overseen the complete re-development of the Torbay-Torquay site and the planning and construction of Parklands Retirement Haven in Urangan. He has adopted a 'hands on' approach being involved in all aspects of the development of the facilities. He has been responsible for the design and construction of an additional 115 independent living units at Torbay-Torquay and the first 14 of 130 villas at Parklands-Urangan. In addition he has upgraded many of the existing villas at Torbay-Torquay. This wealth of experience is waiting to assist you with the planning and construction of your home, your village or your care facility.

With both Trade and Tertiary qualifications, and having been involved for more than 25 years in the building industry, John offers 17 years of construction experience in the Wide Bayregion. As an unrestricted licensed BSA Open Class Builder, John has supervised the complete construction of hundreds of Aged Care Independent Living Units and specialty Aged Care Facilities. John brings a strong commitment to, and knowledge and experience of, high-quality and cost-effective construction techniques to the team.

John's "Can do" philosophy provides expertise in Residential, Commercial, Industrial and High Rise construction. John is ready to discuss your next project.

Administration Manager

Karen has over 15 years experience as an Accountant working in both the Corporate and Private sector where she had a significant involvement with several construction companies both large and small. Karen was also the Administration Manager for the Kilpatrick Green Group and was involved in overseeing some of their Australia-wide construction operations. This has given her a detailed knowledge of the industry. Karen is committed to seeing Torbay Constructions evolve over time to become a leader in planning, design and construction of high-quality and innovative Aged Care Facilities and Independent Living units as well as a range of commercial and residential buildings.

Retirement Living Coordinator

Deb has been a resident of Hervey Bay since 1994 and as such has a thorough and soundly based understanding of the local area. Deb currently holds a Commercial Real Estate license and has been involved in some significant commercial property sales and leases in Hervey Bay. In addition to her knowledge of the Hervey Bay town plan and of commercial property; Deb has had extensive experience in the design and colour selections of hundreds of homes within Torbay’s retirement villages, Aged Care facilities and Community facilities. Deb is looking forward to helping you with all aspects of your building project, no matter what the size.
